Idaho ICE Act

This bill has been introduced to address cooperation with federal authorities. Great debate continues on issues regarding efforts to reduce crime as well as dealing with the humanitarian side of the issue of immigration.  This bill has just started the process, and is heading for the Senate State Affairs.

The Idaho ICE Act aims to bolster immigration enforcement by:

• Prohibiting sanctuary policies.
• Criminalizing the presence and transport of "dangerous illegal aliens" in Idaho.
• Mandating cooperation between Idaho law enforcement and ICE for detention and deportation.
• Enforcing federal immigration detainers.
• Adding a 5-year sentencing enhancement for "dangerous crimes" committed by illegal aliens.

It is presented as supporting the Trump administration's immigration priorities and increasing public safety.
